I fell off my bike

yup. I don't think I have ever fallen off my bike before. I didn't know if my leg hurt more or my ego.
I fell off doing something totally ridiculous. Well maybe not so ridiculous, I just looked ridiculous. I tried to take my purse off my shoulder and put it in my basket, but i turned to soon and my purse got caught on my jacket, and i slowly tipped and fell over my bike.

I have some pretty exciting scars as a result.

Unfair

I feel as if it is unfair that I ever get sick... I sleep 8 hours a night, get more than enough exercise, eat all my veggies and fruits, drink tons of water, wash my hands an obnoxious amount everyday, avoid touching handles, wear more than enough layers when it is cold outside, consume a large amount of vitamin C.

All this week I cant seem to decide if I feel better or worse...I wish my body would just decide. Either get worse and I would stay in bed for a few days and get better or hurry up and start feeling better!

Banana split

I have been sick since...hmmm....last thursday. It is kind of the same deal I had the last two weeks of the semester. Head cold. Feel like caca! I just want to get better. I normally over exert myself when I am sick (like I have done since thursday), and not running and just watching pilates today was hard for me.

When I finally got home for the day, I made myself a banana split. =)

Here's to feeling better, and getting some rest.

early to bed...

Benjamin Franklin once said, "Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise."

I am not the typical college kid. Well for many many many reasons, but one of them is that I am a morning person and enjoy waking up early. I told Jeff why I like waking up early, and its because I get a sense of "I win!" for the rest of the day. I feel like I have accomplished more things throughout the day, but especially when I think that I am up and about before the sun rises, or anyone else is out around town. Normally I would wake up early to get a workout in, so by the time I am home, showered, dressed, and eaten breakfast I am already done with things I would have done later, and before most anyone else wakes up. Like I got a head start.

I also feel like waking up early I get to see the best part of the day. When everything is slowly waking up and coming alive. I get to enjoy the beauty of ice and frost everywhere on these cold winter mornings, which usually melts by the time everyone else is up. There is also a nice quiet peace about being outside, and seeming like the world belongs to you.

I took all 8 am classes this semester, which for some reason in college is a huge bummer. Thinking about it, not really. I had to get up at 6:30 everyday for high school, because we lived so far away and were stuck in traffic driving to school. Now I can get up at 7:30, change, brush my teeth and wash my face, grab some juice and a granola bar and be out the door ready for class.

I was thinking last week why I was so tired off 4-6 hours of sleep a night. I realized it was because most people who need that small amount of sleep have no where near as much activity as I do in a day. Thinking about all I do in a day, made me feel really active and healthy, and made me understand why I need a solid 8 hours of sleep to fully function.
On average for a week I spend:
a little over 300 min cycling (teaching 3, taking 1 90 min class, plus the extra time I need to wait around before and after class)
run around 15 miles...which is super light running because of my knee
cross train 4 hours
practice yoga 6 hours
weight train 1 hour
pilates 2 hours
and cycle to and from campus around 3-4 times a day = 45 min to 1 hr of cycling a day.
*around 25 hours in a week, I am impressed by myself.

looking at all this, no wonder I need so much sleep. I also feel really accomplished, and happy to be almost fully healthy. I am trying to be better about icing my knee.

Yes, it is Friday night and I am in bed. And I will have more fun sleeping, than staying up to hang out with friends while be tired out of my mind.

The odyssey

I am so very proud of boyfriend for getting the staring role as Odysseus in the Odyssey.

Way to go!

exotic night

Erica and I had rice, veggies, and fruit for dinner. We sipped green tea from one of my little tea pots, and felt very exotic. No idea if exotic night (which was just dinner with drinks to match the culture of our dinner) will be a weekly event. Maybe....since we can't do bacon breakfast anymore.

what jeff said

Jeff told me the other night on the phone when I was feeling frustrated, discouraged, and angry that I was beautiful and perfect. This made me so happy, and made me feel so good. He made me feel like I was still a good person even though some of my closer friends gave me the impression I was not. He is soooo good.

I have started to spend my time with some of my other friends, who have been nothing but great. Offering prayers, advice, and being nothing but supportive. They are very Christ-like people, who live their lives in praise of him. I really have felt better in general hanging around them, they are uplifting to be around. Some of my other friends are not uplifting. I think I need to be spending the majority of time with them, since they make me the happiest.

lies

A lie is a known untruth expressed as truth.

Lets say, two people are in a conflict and they have different accounts of what happened and have shared these with each other. One of the people also has told others a different story that contradicts the one they told the person they are in the conflict with. It is hard to seem truthful if you have two contradicting stories.

It is also hard when your friends believe someone who they are not as close to as you. It is hard to still want to be friends with them.

Mr bean rides again...

When I was a kid in Switzerland we had very little exposure to TV. If we did watch it there was CNN in english and various cartoons in german including Scooby Doo. Our favorite shows were pengu and Mr Bean. We also had a small handful of VHS s that we watched over and over. Come to think of it i was watching flying circus and seinfeld when I was 5. haha.

But Mr bean was easily the funniest thing we watched. Our British neighbors and best friends Caroline and Andrew had all of the Mr Bean shows. We would watch it and laugh and laugh. I remember laughing until I cried or fell out of my seat because it was so darn funny.

My dad got all the Mr Bean shows for me for christmas and it is easily my favorite present. I don't think anyone but robbie will appreciate it like I do, since he also has nostalgic feelings towards it.

housing

each year it seems like my housing situation is a bit nuts. freshman year I did not have a room until two days before coming to school. Sophomore year I was offered to move off campus the week before moving back, and Courtney and I decided to sign for the grove 3 hours after we got the email offering us money to move. This year we had 2 definate plans that had a 99% chance of working out and unfortunately they did not. Then we were desperate to find anything. Now Erica and I are on the hunt yet again....(after thinking back on this, i realized why i did not want to move out...) but we have searched for 2 and 3 bedroom places, today we found two girls and are now looking for 4 bedroom places. So i found a few places to look at, and i am hoping and praying we find a place we like tomorrow, all agree to sign for it and its done as soon as possible.

But after learning today I may get to live with Katie and Cate I was really beside myself with happiness. Those two girls are really something. They are so nice and wonderful. I am confident that we would all be perfect. I was happy to live with Erica but I did not know we would be perfect for each other. So I feel good about us all fitting well together!
